Rumors of a Friends reunion had the internet in a frenzy on Wednesday (November 18) as reports claimed that NBC confirmed a revival of the popular sitcom for 2016.

Why in the world did Friends end?
When Friends came to an end after 10 years in May 2004, million viewers tuned in to say goodbye to Monica Geller (Courteney Cox), Ross Geller (David Schwimmer), Rachel Green (Jennifer Aniston), Phoebe Buffay (Lisa Kudrow), Joey Tribbiani (Matt LeBlanc) and Chandler Bing (Matthew Perry). And since then, they have been itching for a reunion.
Would a Friends reunion disappoint people?
Friends aired from 1994-2004 and is considered one of the most influential TV shows ever on pop culture. Although no original episodes have been shot since, it has remained a regular feature on many station's schedules. But Perry said he's not sure if Friends would work today. “I don't want to see old Chandler Bing,” he told a journalist (Perry turned 46 in August). “Everyone’s going to have different vision of what the character is like, so to have that materialize is going to disappoint most people,” he added.
Still hoping for a Friends movie?
In a recent interview, Lisa Kudrow said she can't imagine a Friends reunion hitting the big screen. “I'd rather people go, ‘Oh, please! Please!’ than ‘I can't believe you did that. It was horrible.’”
Co-star Tom Selleck (who played Monica's boyfriend, Dr. Richard Burke between 1996 and 2000) has also previously explained, “It would be terrible to do something and have it not be good,”. “It was so terrific ... If we did a Friends movie and it sucked, then it would, you know, blemish it.”
On the subject of whether there could be a Friends film, Courteney Cox stated : “I think it's a bit of a case of ‘the book is better than the movie’.”
